There were boxes everywhere. Boxes in the kitchen, boxes in the hall, boxes on Jonah's bed. His family was moving to a new house in a new town.

"I don't want to go," said Jonah. "I like this house. I like my window and my tree and my friend Leo next door."

Mom sat down on a box. It squashed a little. "It is okay to feel sad," she said. "I feel a bit sad too. Shall we make a special box?"

Jonah got a small box and a marker. On the top he wrote: Jonah's Most Important Things.

Inside went his favorite blanket. A pine cone from his tree. A drawing Leo had made of the two of them as astronauts. And a piece of paper with Leo's address, so he could send letters.

On moving day, the big truck took the other boxes. But Jonah held his special box on his lap the whole way.

The new house smelled of fresh paint. Jonah's new room was empty and echoey. "Hello," he said, and the room said "hello" back.

He opened his special box. He put his blanket on the bed and the pine cone on the windowsill. He stuck Leo's drawing on the wall.

Out of the window, Jonah saw a girl in the next garden, trying to get a ball out of a bush. He went outside. "I can help," he said. They got it out together.

"I'm Asha," said the girl. "Do you like drawing?" Jonah smiled. That night, he wrote his first letter to Leo. It began: Guess what? I think I might like it here.
