In a box on Maya's desk lived three crayons: Red, Blue and Yellow.

One day, Maya took out a big sheet of paper. "I want to draw a garden," she said.

"Pick me!" said Red. "Pick me!" said Blue. "No, me!" said Yellow.

Maya picked Red. Red drew red flowers, a red sun, red grass and a red sky. Everything was red!

"That looks silly," said Blue. "Let me try." Blue colored over everything. Now it was all blue.

"My turn!" said Yellow, and made it all yellow.

Maya giggled. "It's a one-color garden. Could you work together?"

The crayons thought about it. Blue and Yellow drew right next to each other, and where they touched... GREEN appeared! "Grass!" cheered Maya.

Red and Yellow mixed and made ORANGE. "A sunset!" Red and Blue mixed and made PURPLE. "Grapes!"

Soon the garden had green grass, orange flowers, purple grapes, a yellow sun and a blue sky.

The crayons looked at the picture. "We're much better together," said Red. Blue and Yellow agreed.
