Octavia Octopus Has Eight Jobs
With eight arms, Octavia thinks she can do everything herself. But even an octopus needs help sometimes.
Octavia the octopus lived in a cozy cave on the coral reef. She had eight long arms, and she was very proud of them.
"With eight arms, I can do eight jobs at once!" she said.
On Monday, she was getting ready for the Great Reef Party. With arm one, she hung seaweed streamers. With arm two, she stirred the kelp soup. With arm three, she blew up bubble balloons.
Arm four swept the sand. Arm five painted a sign. Arm six baked sea-cookies. Arm seven wrote invitations. And arm eight scratched her head, wondering what she had forgotten.
Her friend Finn the fish swam by. "Need any help, Octavia?"
"No thanks!" she said. "I have eight arms. I can do it all!"
But then — oh no! — the soup bubbled over, the paint spilled, the streamers tangled and the cookies started to burn! All eight of her arms got tied in a big, twisty knot.
"Help!" cried Octavia.
Finn and all her friends came zooming. The crab snipped the streamers free. The sea turtle stirred the soup. The seahorses fixed the sign, and Finn carefully untangled all eight arms.
Together, they finished everything in no time.
At the party, Octavia raised her cup of kelp juice. "I learned something today," she said. "Even with eight arms, it's okay to ask for help. Things are more fun when we do them together!"
Everyone cheered, and Octavia gave eight hugs at once.
