Captain Crab's Treasure
Captain Crab finds a treasure map and sets off to find gold. But the real treasure is a surprise.
Captain Crab scuttled along the ocean floor with his pirate hat tilted just right. In his claw was an old, soggy map.
"X marks the spot!" he declared. "At the end of this map is the greatest treasure in the sea!"
He started walking — sideways, of course, because that is how crabs walk.
First he met Octavia Octopus, who was stuck in a tangle of fishing net. "Help!" she cried.
Captain Crab snipped the net with his claws. Snip, snip! "Thank you!" said Octavia. "May I come with you?" "Aye!" said the Captain.
Next they found Stanley Starfish flipped upside down. Together they gently turned him right-side up. "Can I come too?" asked Stanley. "The more the merrier!"
Then they met a shy little seahorse named Sunny who had lost her way home. "Follow us," said the Captain. "We'll help you look."
At last they reached the big X on the map. They dug and dug in the sand until — clunk! — they found an old wooden chest.
Captain Crab opened it with a creak. Inside there was no gold. No jewels. Just a small mirror and a note that said: "Look who came with you."
Captain Crab looked in the mirror. He saw himself — and behind him, Octavia, Stanley and Sunny, all smiling.
"Well, shiver me shells," he said softly. "The treasure was new friends all along."
They helped Sunny find her home, and every Saturday after that, the four friends went on a new adventure together.
